Aaaaaaaaaay!
The Giant Pinball Machine Ride
Back in the early and mid ’70s, brothers Sid and Marty Krofft created a bunch of popular kids shows.
Although, my own belief is they did a stunning amount of military-grade psychedelics and then created a bunch of popular kids shows. I could try to describe their shows but it would be like describing Pink Floyd to a deaf man. Just see for yourself.
Below: Land of the Lost (another Krofft production) pinball toy. Notice how even the cartoon characters on this toy look like they shared a fistful of quaaludes.
The Krofft brothers were so prolific back then they decided to take their act to the next level and built a theme park called The World of Sid and Marty Krofft. This is where the pinball tie-in comes. One of the few rides available in this extremely short-lived venture (it folded after 6 months) was The Giant Pinball Ride. The idea was you sat inside a giant pinball-like pod and then took a trip through the machine. Actually, it sounds pretty awesome.
Not a lot of photos exist, but here’s what I could find.
