The new King of Kong
Yes, this is a pinball blog but way before pinball I was a video game fiend and played the crap out of anything the local 7-11 threw at us kids. I still have this weird programmed behavior when I go into a 7-11 I look for what games are there, even though they got rid of them over 15 years ago.
Okay, so unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve seen the awesome King of Kong flick. If you haven’t seen King of Kong, leave this blog now and don’t come back to you fill that huge hole in your life.
For the rest of you cool, attractive, and intelligent people, apparently someone made another King of Kong style flick. The trailer is below. It’s about a plastic surgeon who swooped in on Steve Weibe and Billy Mitchell and took the high score from the dueling donkey kong duo.
Guy’s got a laugh that can make a pinball tilt. Check out the geekness below.

The Bally Story – Bally 35th Anniversary
To commemorate Bally’s 35th anniversary (in 1966!), Billboard Magazine ran a history piece.
On a sidenote, I was recently at the Nevada Historical Society and no one there was aware that Bally got its start with Pinball.
“Hey, Bill! What the national pastime? Baseball or Ballyhoo?”
New York Giants Manager Bill Terry grabbed the welcoming hand of Ray Moloney and shouted back “Ballyhoo!”

And don’t forget this mini-documentary about how the Mafia influenced Bally and Pinball:
Digital by Design Custom Cabinet Virtual Pinball
Here’s a virtual pinball that appears to have been designed for a promotion with FIAT.
Someone on the rec.games.pinball group said that, to him, it looked like a bag of smashed a**holes. ha ha ha.
Well, at any rate, I disagree. I think these cabinets are beautiful and eye-catching and the games are striking as well.

Yogurt
I love ads that get right to the point: Offer this yogurt to a woman playing pinball and you’re in like Flynn. I ran out and bought some yogurt right away.
I must have had the wrong yogurt because it didn’t work for me at all. Also, if it doesn’t work the first time, it won’t work the second or ninth or thirty-third time either. In the end, all I managed to get was a night in the local lockup and a restraining order. And I really didn’t need another one of those!
Here’s an episode of the 70s Incredible Hulk series with Bill Bixby, the greatest actor in the history of great acting.
As we all know David Banner could not hold down a job due to what employers called his “anger management” issues but really this is just an excuse for the obvious discrimination against Banner’s skin color. If you were held down by The Man like David, you would be prone to outbursts and flinging cars, too. Banner’s explanation is something about gamma rays but my own theory is “lots of coke and PCP”.
David takes a job at the local pinball arcade, which is surprisingly absent of prostitutes in late-1970s Times Square. While squandering his Doctorate degree on things like emptying coin boxes and mackin’ on the arcade owner’s daughter, he happens upon a mafia-run money skimming operation. And well, you know the rest: peace is achieved through uncontrollable violence.
Look for the awesome Saturday Night Fever product placement towards the end. I wonder how much they had to pay the porno house to use the marquee.
